Food Trippin' Part 1
I love food. And I love malls. Food in the malls is even better. After the hustle and bustle of intense shopping, I get tired and hungry. So I love eating especially after shopping. With the recent opening of the SM Mall of Asia, it wasn't hard to just go food tripping with my beau or by myself. Here's my own food/restaurant review. Enjoy...
Fastfoods in the Up front and Center of MOA:
Jollibee, KFC, Greenwich,Chowking and McDonald's. Don't even think of coming here during the weekends especially during lunch or dinner because it's always expectedly full. The lines are long and often, you have to wait for people to finish up before you can have a seat...or have other people wait by your side. Which is more irritating, really?
Yet, these fastfood restos have the cheapest food here--and most reliable. Jollibee's spaghetti and Chicken Joy, KFC's hotshots and Zinger, Greenwich's pizza buffet, Chowking's merienda chicken noodle soup and Mc Donald's fries. Yum yum!!! So it's your choice.
Up front, there's also the French Baker and Chicken Inasal. Not always full but their food is a bit pricier.
But then you can also try Pizza Hut Bistro for your fix of ambience and expensive pizza. I like Bistro especially because of the ambience but the food isn't really that great. I get better buffalo chicken and steak at Stars and Stripes and pizza's better and cheaper at Chef D'Angelo's. But hey. Sometimes, you crave for the oily, meaty goodness of Pizza Hut's thick crust pizzas.
You can also try Aristocrat. I have never tried eating here because 1. They have a bad rep for being overpriced (portion over price ratio) 2. I just don't like it.
More on MOA's food choices soon.

Marie Antoinette. I never thought anything could be more boring than Vanity Fair (starring Reese Witherspoon.) Yeah, we already know that a period piece is hard to pull off. But to make a period piece appeal to the youth, is it really a good idea to make the French characters speak with an American accent? Or to give the movie a rocky, edgy soundtrack? It just doesn't add up.
I had thought Marie Antoinette's life would be intense and full of twists and turns. But Sophia Coppola's movie seemed to lack a real plot and any real twist to keep you engaged. Watching the movie, you feel as if you are deliberately being kept away from the scene. You don't feel that you yourself are walking the Versailles. You don't feel as if you are amongst French royalty. What you actually feel is grabbing the remote and hitting the Fast forward button.
Long establishing shots, I get it, the Versailles is magnificent. Next scene please! Long character buildup, I get it, she's a gambler and a partygirl. Next! Long silences, I don't get it! Didn't they speak in those days??? Where, for the life of me, is the plot of the wonderful and infamous life of Marie Antoinette?!?
Sophia Coppola. I had thought you were the Coppolas' gift to youth. I guess I was wrong. And we all know Kirsten Dunst hasn't done anything really good since, what, Interview with the Vampire?
There's supposed to be a big snow storm this weekend starting this afternoon. The meteorologist last night called it the "snowstorm of the Century". He said he expects between 10 to 12 inches of snow. One frikkin foot of snow. Last time that happened was in 1996. Yeah, that was so last decade... Right? And here's the clincher, he said by Sunday, traffic could be potentially dangerous or treacherous. Big words... Stop it, I'm scared already!
In the meantime, I'm prepping up for it by downloading Veronica Mars episodes over the iTunes Store. $1.99 per episode. Nice deal, right? Man, oh, man. They do pull the rug from under your feet though coz the download time for a 470mb file is 6 m*@###***##g hours!!! And all that on a 400Mbps DSL connection! I dread to think what it might be if it were a dial-up connection. I planned to buy 6 episodes but if all of 'em have to take this long, I don't know man.
There's these Mac advertisements comparing itself to PC and Windows Vista and how Apple computers are way better than PCs. Well, maybe they should go a step up and try to make the iTunes Store better than, I dunno, Amazon.com??? Since they're so proud of being ahead of the pack.
Here's hoping I can finally watch the first episode of Season 3 of Veronica Mars by say, 6pm tonight.

I'm mad! I'm obsessed! I can't sleep! This phone is making me go maaaaaaaad!!!
Isn't she a beauty? She's called an LG Chocolate phone in Strawberry flavor. She's a sweet little thing. She makes me glad I didn't bother to buy an mp3 player or an ipod when everybody else was buying those because she... is... the... whole package...
She's an mp3 player and a camera and a phone. And she is just a beauty! Sigh... My current obsession with Full House and anything Korean is only coincidental to the fact that this beauty is made in Korea. So slap me! :D
She is making me think twice about dropping T-mobile and going to Verizon wireless. She is making me join the non-prepaid bandwagon (them who have no problem getting attached to their service providers). She is making me shed money that should ideally be sleeping soundly in the bank... She is making me go bonkers, I tell ye!
Even with the Blackberry's superior specs over her, even with the Motokrzr's more relative utility (and cheaper price) over her... oh my Strawberry Chocolate makes me weak at the knees...!
